Fernando Reinares Rey Juan Carlos University Elcano Royal Institute for International and Strategic Studies Madrid/Spain
Fernando Reinares is Professor of Political Science and Security Studies at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (Rey Juan Carlos University), as well as Director of the Programme on Global Terrorism at Real Instituto Elcano de Estudios Internacionales y Estratégicos (Elcano Royal Institute for International and Strategic Studies), both in Madrid. He teaches postgraduate courses at the Ortega and Gasset University Institute and the General Gutiérrez Mellado University Institute. His previous positions include: Senior Fulbright Scholar and Lecturer in Political Science at Stanford University; titular Professor of Sociology at Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (National University of Distance Learning); Fellow of St. Antony's College at Oxford University; and Chair in Politics and Public Administration at the University of Burgos.
Dr. Reinares has been Chairman of the European Commission experts group on violent radicalization since it was formally created in May 2006. He is a member of the academic committee of the Queen Sofía Center for the Study of Violence, the United Nations roster of experts on terrorism prevention, and the Terrorism Studies Programme Board at the University of St Andrews. A contributing Editor of Studies in Conflict and Terrorism, he also belongs to the editorial board of Terrorism and Political Violence. Dr. Reinares served as Senior Adviser on Antiterrorist Policy to the Minister of the Interior of Spain from 2004 to 2006. Books - Terrorismus Global.
