A voltage regulator is used to control and maintain a continual but constant amount of voltage flowing in any electrical circuit or device. In short these regulator keep the right amount of power or electricity going to the right places at all times. Without them electrical devices would not work properly.

There are several different kinds of voltage regulators out there and they all do the same thing by controlling that constant continual flow of power but they all do it in different ways and for different reasons.

Knowing which voltage regulator to use for the task at hand is very important otherwise you may not be able to get the job done. The first two main types of regulators that you should know about are passive and active regulators. If the power circuit is going to need more power or voltage then make sure to use an active regulator.

Active regulators are a little more complex and have the ability to increase voltage. Passive regulators do not increase voltage but are normally used when enough voltage is already being sent and just discards the extra voltage keeping the power at the same level.

If you are working with AC power lines then you need a mains regulator to control the wattage. Mains voltage regulators find and use right energy tap to use on a transformer. In short this gadget chooses a tap with lower juice if the tap is to high and vice versa. To help control wattages or volts use a coil rotation AC regulator. This device uses a rotating coil to decrease or increase voltage.

Lastly to control house voltage connect a AC voltage stabilizer. This stabilizer keeps the right amount of AC output voltage by using a servomechanism that always maintains the position of the energy tap on the transformer.
